Barnsley Tech Town launches first phase
After being named as the UK’s first government-backed Tech Town earlier this year, Barnsley is ready to launch phase one of its ambitious plans.
The “tech town” status means AI will be tested in schools and at Barnsley College to improve pupils’ results and teachers’ workloads. Residents will have access to free AI and digital training, and the hospital will test AI tools for check-ins, triage and outpatient care. The first phase, announced recently, will provide support programmes – IgniteAI and MeldAI – for local businesses, to help them learn and integrate AI into their daily operations.
