Thursday is National AI Awareness Day. Most parents have never discussed AI with their children.
The UK’s first National AI Awareness Day on 4 June is aimed at schools, but its organisers want parents involved too. King’s College London research published last month found most parents of 11 to 29-year-olds have not spoken to their children about AI and its implications for their futures.
National AI Awareness Day on 4 June 2026 is primarily a school’s initiative, built around the idea that every school in England should commit to running at least one AI literacy activity on the day. More than 700 schools have signed up, free resources are available for all age groups, and a coalition of organisations including Apps for Good, TechSheCan, STEM Learning and Pearson have produced materials that require no specialist knowledge to deliver. But its organisers are also clear that AI literacy does not begin and end at the school gate. Parents, they say, are part of the picture. Resourc
