Who decides what technology goes into your child's classroom?
Most UK schools choose EdTech based on word of mouth from other teachers. Government evaluation frameworks exist. Almost nobody uses them.

When a school decides to adopt a new EdTech platform, the most likely reason is that another teacher recommended it. The Technology in Schools Survey 2025 found that 38 per cent of teachers valued advice from other teaching staff when choosing technology, with 32 per cent citing other schools known for using technology well. Research bodies such as the Education Endowment Foundation were named by just 23 per cent of teachers as a trusted source. Formal evaluation is even rarer.
